     We designed, implemented and analyzed a recent test, which upset the bedrock of years of network engineering for ship to shore network communications. What was thought to be just a validation of known settings, became numerous recommendations for change in order to maximize the utilization of WAN links with longer than normal latency. This type of testing was only possible because of the understanding of not only the network and network protocols such as IP and TCP, but also an insight to the Layer 7 services that handle the data.
